Krups BeerTender Beer Tap Systems

The Krups BeerTender Beer Tap Systems uses mini kegs that delivers a fresh cold brew anytime you need it.  There are three differnet varieties of beer available for it. Heineken, Heineken Light and Newcastle Brown Ale. Yeah it does suck that there is only three types, but there is a way to customize your Krups BeerTender to use other kegs. More about this in a bit. The 5 liter mini DraughtKegs cost about $20 each. You will also need some beer tubes too as well to make this work, but more on this later.

Heineken DraughtKeg

How many beers is in a Heineken DraughtKeg?

There are 33.814 ounces in a liter and the DraughtKegs are 5 liters, so that gives us a total of 169.07 ounces. A regular bottle of beer is 12 ounces. That means that the 5 liter DraughtKeg contains a little more than 14 beers.

When buying the mini kegs, you should find a place that sells them cold already. The reason  is that it takes longer to chill a DraughtKeg than you could a bottle. The DraughtKeg takes more than an hour to chill.

Cooling the DraughtKeg

The Krups BeerTender Beer Tap Systems will very energy efficiently cool a beer keg down to 36 degrees. It will take a day or so to cool a mini keg from room temperature. This is one thing that you need to address if you didn’t buy your mini keg already cold. Krups BeerTender is great for your energy bill because you’re not paying for an extra refrigerator in your house just to keep your beer cold 24/7. However, if you have more than one keg to keep cool, you will have to put the extra mini kegs in coolers to have them ready to go. Just keep that in mind.

Krups BeerTender Beer Tubes

When you use a Krups BeerTender system, the little plastic taps that come with the DraughtKeg will not fit inside the units. That means that you will need to buy a beer tube with each DraughtKeg that you buy. The beer tubes are disposable and you need to use a new one for each keg. It eliminates the need to clean your beer tubes. People who have regular home beer tap systems or even the real systems in bars need their tubes cleaned out more often than you think. There are pros and cons with this. It’s best to buy several boxes of beer tubes at once. You can get them in many amount of package sizes. Remember to buy a few boxes so that you don’t run out in a middle of get together. If you want to order the packages, a link will be below the page.

Tips on pouring a beer with the Krups BeerTender

Some people who use these systems will complain about when pouring because they get all foam. That is because they are pouring it all wrong. You can get a perfect pour every time by just following these simple steps.

  1. First you want to wet your glass. A wet glass helps to control the foam.
  2. Next, hold the glass at a 45 degree angle.
  3. Put the end of the tap to the glass, close to the end of the glass.
  4. Open the tap all the way till glass is to the level of full you want.

By doing these steps, you can control the foam very easy. It is what all bar tenders do when filling a glass for a customer.
